Today Election Commission is going to announces the dates for the assembly elections in 4 states including Jammu and Kashmir, This will be the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370. At the same time, elections are also to be held in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. too Before this The Election Commission had a meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on August 14 to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. On August 9, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar visited Jammu and Kashmir.

The SC said to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir

The Supreme Court had directed the Election Commission to conduct assembly elections in December 11 2023 Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, 2024. This direction of the court was part of the decision on the petitions challenging the abolition of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The Supreme Court said that Jammu and Kashmir should be given the status of a state as soon as possible and elections should be held there. Statehood should be returned to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible. The decision to make Ladakh a Union Territory (UT) was upheld by the Supreme Court. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had said - first delimitation then assembly elections Jammu and Kashmir  on August 11 – The Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said in Parliament that first there will be delimitation, then assembly elections and then statehood will be given at the appropriate time. All things are going on in the same order

Assembly elections are in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana

Assembly elections are also to be held in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana., However in past Elections were held in 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra in 2019. BJP became the largest party in the state with 106 MLAs. The Shiv Sena and BJP alliance could not reach a consensus over the post of Chief Minister Shiv Sena with 56 MLAs formed the government by with help by  Congress with 44 MLAs and NCP with 53 MLAs. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister The last assembly elections were held in Haryana in 2019. In which BJP got 41 and JJP got 10 seats. BJP formed the government with 6 independents and MLA. Manohar Lal Khattar was made the Chief Minister. However, he could not able complete the term. But again In the  2024, Manohar Lal Khattar contested from Karnal seat, for Lok Sabha  He defeated Congress candidate Divyanshu Buddhiraja by 2,32,577 votes. In the Modi 3.0 government, Khattar has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Energy.

Jharkhand Assembly Election of 2019

Elections were held in the 81-member assembly of the state in 2019.in Jharkhand. Were Jharkhand Mukti Morcha formed the government with the alliances The alliance has 48 MLAs. JMM has 29, Congress has 17, RJD has one and CPI (ML) has one MLA. Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister of the state. But On January 31, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was arrested in a land scam. He had resigned from the post of CM before his arrest. Champai Soren was made the Chief Minister in his place. On June 28, the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Hemant Soren. After this, Champai Soren resigned from the post of CM. On July 4, Hemant took oath as the CM of Jharkhand for the third time. However today Election Commission is  holding a Press Conference  at 3pm.
