Emraan-Yami's Film 'Haq ‘Caught In Legal Trouble: The Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam-starrer 'Haq' appears to be facing legal trouble. Shah Bano's legal heirs have sought a ban on the film, inspired by the famous Shah Bano Begum case. A petition has been filed in the Indore High Court for this purpose. The film is scheduled to be released on November 7.
The petition alleges that the film hurts the sentiments of the Muslim community and misrepresents Sharia law.

Petition filed against 'Haq'
In the petition filed through their lawyer Tausif Warsi, Shah Bano's family members have claimed that the film hurts the sentiments of the Muslim community and portrays Sharia law in a biased manner against women. They also allege that the filmmakers did not obtain any legal permission from Shah Bano Begum's heirs.
The Indore High Court is likely to hear the case soon. Hitesh Jain, Parinaam Law, and Amit Naik (Naik & Naik Law Firm) are representing the filmmakers.

Meanwhile, the film's trailer has been well-received by audiences, and there's considerable interest in the film. Earlier, India Today reported that a legal notice was sent to the film's makers, alleging that they depicted Shah Bano's personal life without permission, which constitutes defamation and a violation of personal rights.

According to the makers, "Haq" begins as a love story that gradually evolves from a personal dispute between husband and wife into an important social and legal debate. The courtroom scenes in the film shed light on major policy issues, such as the Uniform Civil Code, which falls under Article 44 of the Constitution.
