Fatal Shooting in Karnal Village Claims Life Due to Long-Standing Feud
In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old man named Jai Bhagwan was fatally shot by four unidentified assailants at a Kariyana shop in Jhanjhari village, located in Karnal district. The incident occurred on Sunday morning as the victim was seated at his shop. The attackers, donning masks and traveling in a car, fired multiple rounds at Jai Bhagwan, resulting in his immediate demise. Law enforcement recovered 15 empty cartridges from the crime scene.
Karnal Superintendent of Police, Shashank Kumar Sawan, has disclosed that a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including murder (Section 302), criminal conspiracy (Section 120B), criminal intimidation (Section 506), and common intention (Section 34), along with charges under the Arms Act. The police have extracted crucial leads from the crime scene and established four investigative teams to analyze closed-circuit television footage.
Preliminary findings suggest a longstanding feud between the two groups, which has resulted in several confrontations over the past five years. Jai Bhagwan, his brother, and his son Goldy had previously survived a 2019 attack that left them with gunshot wounds. Additionally, Goldy was accused in the murder of Pintu alias Vikas from the rival group, who fell victim to unidentified assailants near Shamgarh village in January 2019. This bitter enmity originated after the murder of the ex-Sarpanch of Anjanthali, Suresh alias Babli, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the village back in July 2018.
In a separate incident in Sonepat's Rohana village, a 19-year-old nursing student named Khushbu lost her life when unidentified assailants shot her outside her residence. Khushbu was immediately rushed to a Kharkhoda hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. A male suspect has been apprehended in connection with her murder, and the investigation is currently ongoing. The forensic science laboratory has gathered evidence from the scene to aid in the inquiry.
