FIITJEE center's suddenly shut down in many cities, what is the whole matter?

Students and their families are upset due to the sudden closure of many centres of FIITJEE, a popular coaching institute that prepares students for engineering and medical competitive exams. Students and their parents taking coaching outside many centres in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have also protested.

In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the police have also registered a case against the FIITJEE centre operators. Complaints have also been lodged against FIITJEE in many other police stations of UP.

However, no statement has come from the FIITJEE management on this entire incident so far. 

The major centres of FIITJEE located in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi and Sector 62, Noida have also been suddenly closed. Apart from this, there are reports of FIITJEE institutes being shut down from cities like Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lucknow and Varanasi.

According to the FIR lodged in Ghaziabad ten days ago, the families of the affected students have accused FIITJEE of suddenly closing the centre and affecting the preparation of the students.

In the complaint given to the police by the parents, it has also been claimed that the teachers of the centre were also not being paid salaries.

With many center's being suddenly closed, questions are also being raised about the financial condition of FIITJEE.

Students' problems

This is a crucial time for the students preparing for NEET and IIT-JEE. On the other hand, NEET exam is usually held in April-May. Avinash Kumar, a family member who reached the police station in Noida, Uttar Pradesh to lodge an FIR, said, "It is a question of the future of the children. The phone of the centre management is switched off, there is no one on the spot. Where should we take our children now?"

Speaking to news agency, another family member, Rajiv Kumar Chaudhary, said, "We have come to the police station to lodge an FIR. My son is in class 10th, he had taken a five-year course. My son has prepared here for three years but now he has only two years left." He said, "FIITJEE has asked us to take the child to another institute. FIITJEE cannot decide where we will educate our child." Rajiv Kumar said, "My child has class 10th exams, he is not able to sleep at night due to stress."

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the entrance exam JEE for admission to the country's prestigious engineering colleges (IITs). Students who pass class 12th appear in this exam. Many students prepare for this exam from class 9 itself. Many such students enroll in FIITJEE's four-year coaching program. Many of the protesting families are those whose children have been taking coaching in this institute for the last two-three years.

Journey of FIITJEE

An engineer DK Goyal, who got a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT Delhi, started Forum for IIT-JEE in 1992.The aim of this institute was to help students who dreamed of getting admission in IIT in their preparation. Initially, FIITJEE had a small coaching canter in Delhi.

Within a few years, this institute earned a reputation of preparing top rankers for IIT JEE entrance exam. FIITJEE made its own place in the coaching world in the next few years and it became synonymous with institutes providing coaching for IIT.

FIITJEE centres opened in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow and other big cities. Currently, FIITJEE has 73 coaching centres in the country.

But now this institute is under question. After the allegations of not paying the salaries of teachers, questions are being raised about the financial health of FIITJEE. In a statement published on the website of FIITJEE, its chairman DK Goyal says,

"FIITJEE's journey from being just an institute offering IIT-JEE coaching to becoming the most powerful brand in serious education has been encouraging. But our journey at FIITJEE will never end, for us the journey is the destination."
