These changes have been described in a statement from the Chinese Embassy in India. The notification states that qualifying applicants would no longer be required to submit biometric information (fingerprints) for single-entry or double-entry visas for business, tourist, transit, short-term family visits, and crew reasons until December 31, 2023.
These modifications will be in place till the end of 2023. Some exemptions previously existed, such as those for people under the age of 14 or over the age of 70, for those who had their fingerprints recently taken by the Chinese Embassy, and for those whose prints were declared "uncollectable."
For Indian citizens, a Chinese visa can cost anywhere between Rs 3,800 and Rs 7,800. This is dependent on the type of visa and how long it is valid for. Direct lines of communication with the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi have been established to assist Indian nationals looking for information about visas.
Required paperwork for applications for Chinese visas:
- Completion of the online visa application's application form and confirmation page.
- Having a valid passport in your possession that is original and at least six months old.
- Two or more blank visa pages are available in the passport.
- Submitting copies of the relevant passport pages.
- Presentations of images.
- Supplying proof to support a person's place of residence and place of employment.
The changes made to China's visa policies for Indian nationals are a reflection of the changing dynamics between the two nations and the possibilities for diplomatic advancement on a number of fronts. The results of these developments and their possible influence on bilateral relations are in the spotlight as the BRICS summit draws near.
