RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said in Bengaluru, Karnataka that Aurangzeb should not be considered an icon for what he did. There was an Aurangzeb Road in Delhi, which was renamed as Abdul Kalam Road. There were some reasons behind this.  Why Aurangzeb's brother Dara Shikoh was not made a hero.

Those who advocate Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb never thought of bringing Dara Shikoh forward. Will we make someone who was against the culture of India an icon, or will we go with those who worked according to the traditions of this land?

Why was the road in Delhi named after Aurangzeb and not Dara Shikoh?

He said that the freedom struggle was not fought only against the British, Shivaji and Maharana Pratap also fought for freedom against the Mughals. That was also a freedom struggle. The people of the country have to decide whether they consider Aurangzeb or Dara Shikoh as their icon?

Who should be made an icon in India?

Dattatreya said that the people of India have to decide whether they will make a person who went against the history of India their icon, or those who have lived with the country's culture, tradition and soil their icon. Therefore, the real issue is this and Aurangzeb does not fit into it.

Aurangzeb's brother Dara Shikoh fits into this icon. He said that an independent country will have to seriously think about how we got independence. The brave sons of the country have fought against the invaders who came before the British.

Controversy over the grave

The controversy over this tomb is not stopping. After the political uproar on this issue in the state, now the whole matter has reached the Bombay High Court.

Summary

A petition has also been filed in the High Court regarding this. The court has been asked to give instructions to remove Aurangzeb's tomb from the list of national monuments.
