By submerging the statue in water, devotees wish Lord Ganesha farewell in anticipation of his reappearance the following year.

In many Indian states, Ganeshotsav is celebrated with considerable passion. Even though some people perform Visarjan after one and half day, three days, five days, or seven days, the festival's last day is particularly significant because it is thought to be the day that Lord Ganesha enters his heavenly abode.

By submerging the statue in water, devotees wish Lord Ganesha farewell in anticipation of his reappearance the following year.

What rituals are performed in Ganesh Visarajan?

On the person doing the puja for Ganapati Visarjan, water is showered. An entire coconut is offered to Ganpati Bappa and cracked when they leave the house for Visarjan. Lord Ganesha is submerged in the water with the coconut.

Family, friends, and relatives do a Lord Ganesha aarti early in the morning. Lord Ganesha receives offerings of modak, fruits, flowers, and other foods. For Visarjan, Lord Ganesha's idol is prepared, and a procession is held with celebration, dance, music, and enthusiasm to the immersion site.

By applying akshat and dahi on Lord Ganesha's hands before saying goodbye, blessings are sought. For luck and grace, Lord Ganesha is carried to each and every corner of the home. Coconut, jaggery, and grains are placed inside a scarlet fabric that is knotted around the sculpture of Lord Ganesha. It is thought that Lord Ganesha will have this meal on his way home.
