Country’s Vande Bharat Express got its 1t female loco pilot for the first time, who is now Asia’s 1st female loco pilot to drive train from Solapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai on Monday. Her pictures while driving the train for the 1st time went viral on social media where PM Modi called the feat as an assurance of realization of Amrit Kaal.
While replying to the tweet posted by Union Minister PM Modi said, ” This is the confidence of the new India’s women’s power! The achievements that women are making today in every field of life, give confidence that the country’s aspirations will be realized in Amrit Kaal.”
Reaction of Asia’s 1st female loco pilot? :
“I was appointed in 1989. I have been working for 34 years. I got support from my parents and in-laws. My father provided me with good education because of this I’m here. I thank PM Modi for bringing Vande Bharat to Mumbai,” she said.
After completing the 1st trip from Solapur to Mumbai, she was felicitated by her fellow team members on te railway platform of Chatrapati Shivaji Terminal. Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw praised tweeted, “Vande Bharat – powered by Nari Shakti. Smt. Surekha Yadav, the first woman loco pilot of Vande Bharat Express”.
Further she then expressed her gratitude that she got the opportunity to drive the Vande Bharat Express train, further when sked her about her experience she said, “Vande bharat is a semi high speed train , equipped with advance technology, hence, needs more alertness as compared to the traditional trains.”
Surekha Yadav, who hails from Satara in Maharashtra, became India’s first female train driver in 1988. For her achievements, she’s been honoured with many awards at State and National level.
