The Government of India has taken several measures to ensure a steady supply of LPG cylinders across the country amid global tensions involving Israel, the United States and Iran.

Officials have said there is no need for panic among consumers and assured that India’s energy security remains strong.

LPG Cylinder Booking Period Extended

In a major step to control hoarding, the government has increased the gap for booking a second LPG cylinder from 21 days to 25 days after delivery.

The decision has been taken to prevent panic booking and ensure fair distribution of cooking gas among consumers.

Refineries Directed To Increase LPG Production

To strengthen domestic supply, the government has directed oil refineries across the country to increase production of liquefied petroleum gas.

Reports indicate that refineries have already raised LPG output by around 10 percent to maintain adequate supply for households.

States Asked To Prevent Hoarding And Black Marketing

The Union Home Secretary recently held a meeting with Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of all states and union territories.

During the meeting, states were asked to take strict action to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders and fuel. Authorities were also advised to appoint official spokespersons to provide regular updates and curb misinformation.

Government Appeals To Public Not To Panic

The government has appealed to citizens not to panic book LPG cylinders or stockpile fuel unnecessarily.

Officials stressed that while global tensions may impact markets, India’s fuel supply remains stable. They also urged people to ignore rumors and rely only on official information.
