Gujarat has ranked first in the country with 12,150 MW approved power generation capacity under the Solar Park and Ultra-Mega Solar Power Projects Development Scheme, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question by Parimal Nathwani, Shripad Yesso Naik said the government has approved 54 solar parks across the country till February 28, 2026.

Out of these, seven solar parks are located in Gujarat, with a combined approved capacity of 12,150 MW. The minister said the total approved generation capacity of all 54 solar parks in the country stands at 39,188 MW.

Rajasthan second in solar capacity

After Gujarat, Rajasthan ranks second with 11 solar parks and a combined approved generation capacity of 10,726 MW.

The information was provided in response to questions related to the number of solar parks developed or under development, the targets for power generation and steps taken to address challenges in implementing the scheme.

Challenges in project implementation

The minister said several issues affect the implementation of solar projects under the scheme.

These include land acquisition challenges, coordination with the timeline for creation of transmission infrastructure, development of renewable energy projects and delays in tariff adoption.

Naik said the ministry is working to resolve these issues through regular meetings and interactions with states, union territories and other stakeholders.
