In a recent press release, the Haryana Police reported a notable reduction in crime rates across various categories in the state for the year 2023. The decline has been attributed to the stringent operational approach adopted by the Haryana Police, according to the official statement.

According to the released data, there has been a commendable 12% decrease in crimes against women in the state. Robbery cases have witnessed a substantial decline of 30%, and there has been an 18.33% reduction in snatching incidents. Additionally, serious injury cases have seen an 8% decline compared to the previous year, as indicated in the press release.

The statement highlighted a meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujit Kapoor, where it was emphasized that feedback is actively sought when registering or resolving complaints related to crimes against women. District teams will undergo specialized training by experts to address crimes against women and children. A notable initiative in Gurugram district involves educating women police personnel about the challenges faced by women and girls in schools.

Addressing concerns related to Section 498A cases pertaining to dowry, the DGP announced a crucial decision. Henceforth, cases will be registered against the accused only after a thorough investigation of all facts based on the woman's complaint.

In the meeting, DGP Kapoor instructed the Superintendents of Police (SPs) to ensure the enforcement of lane driving on NH-152D, NH-44, and NH-9 within their respective jurisdictions. Meetings with representatives of transport unions have been conducted to disseminate necessary information about lane driving. Notably, the DGP mentioned that between December 1 and December 13, approximately 6000 vehicles driving in the wrong lane were issued challans as part of the ongoing efforts to regulate traffic.
