Has anyone taken a loan using your Aadhaar card? Check it for free
Aadhaar card: These days, Aadhaar cards are essential for everything. But did you know that fraudsters can also use your Aadhaar to take out fake loans in your name? You may not even be aware of it, and you will become a debtor. Don't panic. You can easily find out from the comfort of your home.
The surest way to check your loans is your credit report (CIBIL report). This is your 'financial horoscope.' It contains a complete list of all the loans and credit cards, big or small, running in your name. It's crucial to check it.
This will clearly reveal how many loans are running in your name. If you notice any discrepancies or unknown loans, immediately file a complaint with the RBI and cyber police.
Visit the official websites of CIBIL, Experian, or Equifax (such as www.cibil.com). You can download your credit report once a year for free by entering your PAN card, Aadhaar number, and some basic information. Review the report carefully to ensure you don't see any unknown loans.
If the report shows a loan you didn't take, take immediate action. File a complaint on the RBI portal (sachet.rbi.org.in) or with the cybercrime cell of your nearest police station. The sooner you file a complaint, the better.
