Noida Honey Trap Case: The Gautam Buddh Nagar (GBN) Commissionerate Police has busted a gang involved in entrapping and blackmailing people through dating apps. Four accused individuals have been arrested, and cash and jewelry have been recovered from their possession.

If you use online dating apps, exercise caution. Gangs specializing in luring people into romantic traps—only to rob and blackmail them—are active in Noida. The Sector-126 police station team busted one such gang, arresting four accused individuals, including a college student.

4 Accused Arrested; Stolen Goods Recovered

The police have recovered a stolen diamond ring, a gold chain, and approximately ₹14,000 in cash from the accused. All the accused were produced before a court on Thursday and subsequently sent to jail.

According to ADCP Manisha Singh, the arrested individuals have been identified as Sushank Singh (from Bulandshahr), Pradeep (from Mathura), Rohit (from Bihar), and Vasu (from Baghpat). All of them were residing in rented accommodation in the Shahdara area of Delhi.

Creating Fake IDs to Lure Victims

Police interrogation revealed that the gang's mastermind, Sushank Singh, would create a fake account under the name 'Rahul' on dating apps to establish contact with people. He utilized the app's "nearby" feature to ensnare individuals residing in the Delhi-NCR region.

Luring Victims to a Room to Record Videos

The gang members would rent rooms using fake Aadhaar cards. When a victim arrived at the location, the accused would surreptitiously—or by force—record compromising photos and videos of them. This marked the beginning of their blackmail scheme. The accused would extort money and jewelry from the victims by threatening to circulate the videos on social media or send them to their families. Changing Professions to Conceal Identities

To conceal their identities, members of the gang worked as cab drivers or waiters. The accused, Vasu, is a second-year B.A. student in Ghaziabad, while the other accused individuals are less educated. During the commission of crimes, they used SIM cards procured using fake addresses and utilized separate mobile phones, which they would then smash and discard after the incident.

Police Investigation Underway

The police have seized the accused individuals' mobile phones and sent them for forensic analysis. Additionally, an investigation is underway to determine how many people the gang has victimized so far and how many fake IDs they had created. Notably, just three days ago, the Noida Police had busted another similar gang.
