Rescue teams took action early on Saturday to provide relief and rescue those trapped under crumbled buildings. This is the worst earthquake the country has faced since 2015 when it killed 9,000 people.

Although the magnitude of the earthquake was not severe, the construction of the buildings was not strong enough to handle such shaking. Hundreds of houses made of mud also collapsed. The country experienced three more tremors within an hour of the first one, forcing people to spend the entire night outside.

Multistory buildings also crumbled, burying many under rubble. Rescue workers not only had to extricate people stuck beneath the debris but also had to clear blocked roads from fallen buildings."

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Ramidanda. Around 99 people were killed in Jajarkot and 38 in Rakum West district, Karnali province. According to reports, around 85 people were injured in Rukum West and 55 in Jajarkot.

Jajarkot was severely affected by the earthquake, as three towns and three villages with a population of 190,000 people were impacted.

Prime Minister Pushpa also reached the area with a team of medicinal personnel to provide relief.

The Earthquake was so strong that tremors were even felt in New Delhi. The Indian Prime Minister also took to X to express his concern as he wrote "India stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal and is ready to extend all possible assistance. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and we wish the injured a quick recovery".
