Kerala to witness heavy rainfall

In Kerala, rainfall activity has intensified with the onset of pre-monsoon conditions in 2026.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the state over the next five days. Strong winds, lightning and dust storms are also likely during this period.

Tamil Nadu on alert

Similar conditions are expected in Tamil Nadu, where pre-monsoon showers have strengthened.

Multiple states under rain alert

The IMD has issued heavy rain warnings for several states and regions, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Mahe, Puducherry, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Karaikal, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Nagaland.

The department has also warned of strong winds, lightning and dust storms in several districts, along with the possibility of hailstorms in isolated areas.

Changing pre-monsoon pattern

The IMD noted that the pre-monsoon pattern has changed in many parts of the country, leading to widespread rainfall activity.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
