In Farewell Speech, Kharge States: "No One Retires in Politics"; PM Modi Offers Praise
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He offered words of praise for Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is bidding farewell to the Rajya Sabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the outgoing Members of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. In his speech, he made special mention of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, and Sharad Pawar. PM Modi stated that all these members have made invaluable contributions. These are senior leaders who have dedicated more than half of their lives to parliamentary proceedings. Despite such extensive experience, new members of Parliament should learn from them how to attend the House with complete dedication.
The Prime Minister remarked that Kharge is a veteran leader who has dedicated more than half of his life to the workings of the parliamentary system
Prime Minister Modi remarked that this is a lesson that all of us should learn from these senior leaders. PM Modi noted that various issues are debated in this House, and everyone makes significant contributions to these discussions. In the process, there are moments of both bitter and sweet experiences. However, when an occasion like this arises, it is natural for us to rise above party lines; a shared sentiment emerges among us all—that our colleagues are now moving forward to shoulder other important responsibilities.
‘There are no Full Stops in Politics’
The Prime Minister observed that among the members bidding farewell today, some are leaving with the hope that they will return again. Meanwhile, others are taking with them the experiences gained here, and they will continue to contribute meaningfully to society and public life. To those members who are departing—and who may not return to this House again—I would like to say this: there are no full stops in politics.
