The Income Tax Department (IT) raids on the premises of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Umashankar Singh are continuing. More than 24 hours have passed since the raids. The Income Tax team left Umashankar Singh's residence in Lucknow at 10:30 pm on Wednesday, but the Income Tax team is still present at his office in Vipul Khand.

A total of 30 locations, including those of MLA Umashankar Singh, his brother, close associates, and business partners, were raided on Wednesday morning.
Income Tax raids are ongoing at his SKY Hotel, plant, and residence in Ballia, as well as at another location. Income Tax teams are also present in Sonbhadra and Varanasi. The Income Tax Department has seized numerous documents and electronic devices. A total of 30 locations, including those of MLA Umashankar Singh, his brother, close associates, and business partners, were raided on Wednesday morning. No official statement has been issued by the Income Tax Department yet.
Raids also conducted at the premises of the President of the Crusher Owners Association
The Income Tax Department is also conducting searches at several locations, including those of Ajay Singh, President of the Crusher Owners Association, Chandrabhushan Gupta, and Devendra Kesari. Department officials are investigating the crusher plant and office of M/s Chhatra Shakti. Sources indicate that Income Tax officials have recovered several important documents.
Umashankar Singh was first elected MLA from the Rasra assembly constituency in 2012 on a BSP ticket. He also won in 2017 and 2022 on BSP tickets. Meanwhile, Dinesh Singh, a relative of the BSP MLA and a BJP leader and minister in the state government, has protested the raid through a social media post.

The minister posted on X, "The Income Tax Department is conducting a raid at the home of Umashankar Singh, MLA from Rasra in Ballia district, whose family is related to us." He stated that state and national leaders, as well as the Income Tax Department and all officials, are aware that the MLA has been suffering from serious health problems for the past two years.
