India's poor performance in Adelaide

Like in Perth, Team India lost the toss in Adelaide, resulting in Australia electing to field. India had a poor start, with captain Gill dismissed for 9 runs. Kohli failed to open his account, and for the first time in his career, he was dismissed for zero in two consecutive ODIs.

However, Rohit and Iyer then forged a century partnership to bring India back into the game. Rohit scored 73 runs, while Iyer scored 61. Axar Patel scored 44. Team India somehow managed to reach 264.

Australia won the match

Australia's target of 265 runs proved low. The team got off to a poor start, with Mitchell Marsh dismissed for 11 runs. Travis Head also made a 28-run knock, but Matthew Short led Australia's comeback with a 74 off 78 balls. Matthew Renshaw scored 30 runs. When Alex Carey was dismissed for 9 runs, it seemed India would make a comeback. But youngster Cooper Connolly's unbeaten half-century and Mitchell Owen's quickfire 36 off 23 balls secured Australia's victory.

Summary

The third ODI will be played in Sydney on October 25th. Team India's goal now will be to avoid a series clean sweep.
