IND vs SA: The Test series between India and South Africa begins at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 14th, and just 48 hours before the Test, a major announcement has been made regarding Team India's playing XI. All expectations and claims appear to be coming true, as the in-form young wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel will be included in the Indian team's playing XI for the Kolkata Test. Team India's assistant coach, Ryan Tendeshkate, made the announcement two days before the match.

Jurel scored centuries in both innings of the match against South Africa A.

Jurel will be rewarded for his good performance.

Assistant coach Tendeshkate revealed this information regarding the playing XI during a press conference before Team India's second practice session at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Wednesday, November 12th. Regarding the question of playing Dhruv Jurel, the assistant coach said, "I think we have a good idea of the combination (playing XI). The way Dhruv Jurel has played over the past six months, and the two centuries he scored in Bengaluru last week, he is certain to play this week."

Star batsman out of Team India

Jural made his Test debut for Team India last year and impressed significantly. He recently took over wicketkeeping duties in Pant's absence against the West Indies, scoring 175 runs in three innings of the series, including his maiden Test century. Jurel also recently scored centuries in both innings against South Africa A.

Nitish will have to wait

However, Jurel will not play as wicketkeeper because Team India's star wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, is making his comeback in this series. Pant will shoulder this responsibility, and another player will have to make way for Jurel. Tendeshkate also revealed this, adding that young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy may have to sit out. Nitish was previously part of the Test series against the West Indies but didn't get many opportunities there.

Summary

Deshkate referred to the recent Australia tour, where Reddy missed a single match due to injury. He said, "The first thing is to develop a winning strategy. Our thinking about Nitish hasn't changed. He didn't get many opportunities in Australia. But I would say that given the importance of the series and the conditions we'll face here, Nitish may sit out this Test."
