The Indian Coast Guard has announced vacancies for Assistant Commandant posts, inviting eligible candidates to apply through the official website, joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in. With the recruitment drive aiming to fill 70 positions within the organization, interested individuals are encouraged to seize this opportunity. Below are the details regarding eligibility criteria, the selection process, and other pertinent information.

Vacancy Details

  • General Duty (GD): 50 posts
  • Tech (Engineering/ Electrical): 20 posts

Eligibility Criteria

  1. General Duty (GD): Candidates must possess a degree from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
  2. Technical (Mechanical): Aspirants should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, or Aerospace with at least 60% aggregate marks.
  3. Technical (Electrical/Electronics): Candidates must possess an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Communication, Power Engineering, or Power Electronics with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.

Additionally, candidates should be between 21 to 25 years of age as of July 1, 2024.

Selection Process

The selection process for Assistant Commandants is based on an all-India order of merit, determined by candidates' performance in various stages. All applicants will undergo a computer-based online screening test known as CGCAT, comprising 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each correct answer carries four marks, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect response.

Examination Fee

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 300/- via online mode, utilizing net banking or Visa/Master/Maestro/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI. However, candidates belonging to the SC/ST category are exempt from the application fee.
