Indian Students in Canada protests after facing housing crisis
Indian students who took admission in Candore College of North Bay staged protests against college administration. Students were not able to find affordable housing at the campus and were thus forced to live in the tents near the college campus. These students protests against the college management on Tuesday and the authorities decided to listen to issues and provide them affordable housing.
The college is largely unregulated by the government which is why students could only appeal to the institution. Students had been placing their issues in front of the management for weeks, but the management did not respond. Therefore they had to protests.
Canadore College
Indian students were supported by the Montreal Youth Students Organization or MYSO who took the lead for the protests. The Canadore college of the Ontario Province took admission of 3500 students. The city of North Bay is sparsely populated and even then the college took large number of students.
The influx of immigration in Canada is already worrisome for the authorities. The cost of accommodation has been high as a result of housing crisis in Canada.
The authorities have agreed to provide affordable housing to students, they also agreed to refund the full fees, and that classes will have online option according to policy of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada or IRCC
Leaders of Montreal Youth Students Organization or MYSO have said that if the demands are not met properly then they will stage a bigger protest on Monday.
