India's first hydrogen train to run on Jind-Sonipat route, know its specialty
The country's first hydrogen train will run on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana today. This eco-friendly train has been manufactured by Chennai's Integral Coach Factory (ICF). Its trial is starting today on this 89-kilometer route. This train is capable of running at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. Apart from the passenger coach, this train will also have two coaches for hydrogen cylinders.
Capable of carrying 2,638 passengers at a time
This train with a capacity of 1200 horsepower will be able to carry 2,638 passengers at a time. The Ministry of Railways had allocated Rs 2,800 crore for the manufacture of hydrogen fuel cell-based trains, under which 35 such trains are being prepared. This 8-coach train, running at a speed of 110 kmph, will be among the longest hydrogen trains in the world.
This initiative based on green technology will play an important role in reducing carbon emissions and moving towards the zero-carbon target.
Plan to bring it into regular operation after successful trial
During the trial, the technical capability and safety standards of the train will be evaluated. After successful testing, it is planned to bring it into regular operation. This train, manufactured by Chennai's Integral Coach Factory (ICF), is an important step of Indian Railways towards promoting clean and sustainable transportation.
