IndiGo Responds to 'Squeeze Extras' Complaints, Offers Complimentary Soft Drinks with Snack Purchases
IndiGo, in response to complaints from BJP member and former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta, has announced changes to its in-flight services. Dasgupta had voiced his frustration that passengers couldn't buy soft drinks on IndiGo flights without also being obliged to purchase snacks, calling for an end to such practices.
In light of this, an IndiGo spokesperson revealed that the airline has restructured its offerings to provide an efficient, sustainable, and affordable snacking experience. The spokesperson explained that this initiative is aligned with their commitment to environmental sustainability, having saved thousands of cans from being discarded. They further mentioned that beverages in cans have been discontinued, although the exact date of this change was not specified.
Dasgupta had taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction, revealing that passengers were compelled to purchase snacks, whether desired or not, in order to obtain a soft drink. He urged Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to restore the freedom of choice to airline passengers and put an end to the practice of obliging passengers to purchase additional items.
IndiGo, as the largest airline in India with a domestic market share exceeding 63 percent, seeks to address passenger concerns and enhance the in-flight experience with these changes.
