The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is pushing for a significant tourism boost by proposing complimentary entry visas for travelers from 20 countries. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, announced the initiative in Jakarta, specifying that the selected countries are those with the highest numbers of foreign tourists, excluding those with existing visa exemptions.

Among the 20 countries included in the proposal are Australia, China, India, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, among others. Uno highlighted that the aim of providing free entry visas to these countries is to enhance foreign tourist visits, subsequently triggering a multiplier effect. This effect is anticipated to stimulate domestic consumption, attract investment, and contribute to the growth of the digital economy.

"We are strategically targeting high-quality tourists, particularly those who opt for longer stays and contribute significantly to the local economy through higher spending," he emphasized during the announcement in Jakarta on Thursday.
