People are still confused about the date of Diwali this year. Some believe that this year, Diwali will be celebrated on October 20th, while others are saying that October 21st is the correct date for Diwali. Diwali 2025 Date and Tithi

The festival of Diwali is celebrated on the new moon day of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Kartik. This year, the Kartik Amavasya date will begin at 3:44 pm on October 20th and end at 5:55 pm on October 21st. Based on the new moon date, some scholars or pundits are advising to celebrate Diwali on October 20th, while others are in favor of celebrating it on October 21st.

Diwali's date confusion cleared up

According to astrologers, the Pradosh Kaal (the most prevalent date) of Diwali falls on October 20th. Meanwhile, on October 21st, due to Amavasya lasting more than three hours and Pratipada lasting more than three and a half hours, there is no auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja on that day. Therefore, Diwali will be celebrated on October 20th.

This time, there will be two auspicious times for worship on Diwali. The first auspicious time is during Pradosh Kaal. On this day, Pradosh Kaal will be between 5:46 pm and 8:18 pm, with Vrishabha Kaal lasting from 7:08 pm to 9:03 pm. Goddess Lakshmi can be worshipped during this time as well.

Furthermore, the most auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja will be between 7:08 pm and 8:18 pm. This means you will have 1 hour and 11 minutes for Lakshmi Puja.

Diwali Pujan Vidhi

On Diwali, place a platform in the east or north-east direction. Spread a red or pink cloth on the platform. First, place the idol of Lord Ganesha. Then, place Goddess Lakshmi to his right. Sit on the seat and sprinkle water around yourself. After this, take a vow and begin the puja. Light a one-faced ghee lamp. Then, offer flowers and sweets to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
