Rishabh Pant Captaincy Reaction: "Captaining a single match isn't the best situation. But at the same time, I feel very proud that the BCCI gave me this opportunity. Captaining the country is the proudest moment." This statement comes from Rishabh Pant, who has become the country's 38th Test captain.

Or is he unsatisfied with the responsibility, or is he in a "Dil Maange More" mode?

These aren't the best circumstances

Pant said captaining a single Test isn't "the best situation," but admitted that he doesn't want to "think too much" about it. Pant's statement has several implications.

As India's 38th Test captain, he wants to mix traditional leadership with some "out-of-the-box" ideas in his captaincy as he takes over the second Test against South Africa, starting Saturday, November 22nd. Pant will lead the team after regular captain Shubman Gill was ruled out due to a neck injury.

Rishabh Pant isn't satisfied with captaining

He said in the pre-match press conference, "I think being traditional helps. And thinking outside the box also works. For me, it's all about finding that balance between traditional thinking and thinking outside the box."

In general, I want to be a captain who gives players freedom and wants them to learn and make the right decisions for the team. That's the real goal, and whatever experience I have will help them on the field.

Pant said he was officially informed of the captaincy on Thursday night. When asked if he spoke to Gill about this, he replied, "I talk to Gill every day," laughing as he said.

Will there be a comeback in Guwahati? What did Captain Pant say?

Team India's stand-in captain, Pant, admitted that it's difficult to make a comeback in a two-match series. On the third day of the first Test, when Gill was injured and Pant had to captain, some of his strategic decisions were questioned. The pitch was deteriorating and the bounce was uneven, so many questioned his decision not to bowl to Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Temba Bavuma scored a half-century during that period, and the runs scored in the morning proved decisive in the match.

Who will be Gill's replacement, Pant revealed

Pant did not specify who would replace Gill or whether there would be another change for balance, but he clarified that all the players playing have been informed.

What's the solution to Simon Harmer, what did Pant say?

Regarding whether a right-handed batsman would be included in the squad given the presence of off-spinner Simon Harmer, Pant said, "We've taken that into consideration, as we have several left-handed batsmen in our batting line-up. We've mostly made our decision, and those who will play have been informed."
