Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully docked two satellites in space. This was done under the SpaDeX (Space Docking Experiment) mission. With this success, India has become the fourth country in the world to do so after America, Russia and China. This achievement was achieved on Thursday.

Earlier it was postponed on January 7 and 9 due to technical reasons. On January 12, ISRO conducted a test in which the satellites were brought to a distance of 3 meters and then they were taken to a safe distance for further analysis.

After the success of SpaDeX mission, India has become the fourth country in the world to do so. Proficiency in space docking will prove to be helpful in future human missions and inter planetary missions. ISRO made the fourth attempt of docking two satellites in space under the SpaDeX mission. According to ISRO sources, scientists have got success in this attempt.

Another record in the name of ISRO

Earlier, ISRO had informed on January 12 that the Space Docking Experiment Project could not complete the mission even after reaching very close to its target. ISRO had said that the attempt to bring the distance between the two satellites from 15 meters to 3 meters was successful, after which both the satellites were moved away from each other. ISRO had said that now docking will be attempted after data analysis. On January 12, there was the third attempt of docking.

Docking process

The purpose of docking is to share data by connecting 2 satellites to each other, connect power sources or carry out a special mission.

During space docking, a spacecraft has to be brought near the other spacecraft and connected in a controlled manner, so that there is no damage.

What is SpaDeX mission?

There are two satellites in SpaDeX mission. First is chaser and second is target.

The chaser satellite had to catch the target and dock it.

Each satellite weighs about 220 kg.

These satellites were launched through rocket PSLV-C60.

ISRO launched this mission on 30 December at 10 pm from Sriharikota.

Under this, two spacecraft were deployed 470 km above the earth from PSLV-C60 rocket

India became the fourth country

ISRO made the fourth attempt to connect two satellites in space under the Spadex mission, which was successful. Scientists have successfully completed the docking process. The team analyzed the entire information and confirmed the success of this operation. After the review of the data was completed, the official announcement was also made. ISRO said in its statement that after connecting the two satellites, success has been achieved in controlling both as a single object. In the coming days, the separation of satellites and power transfer will be checked.
