Women climbers of the ITBP achieved a historic feat by successfully hoisting the tricolor on the 7,135-meter-high Mount Nun.

Women climbers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) successfully hoisted the tricolor on the 7,135-meter-high Mount Nun (Ladakh). The expedition was led by Assistant Commander Bhanita. A total of 14 female mountaineers conquered this difficult peak on August 14, 2025. This is a significant achievement in itself.

The women climbers were given a warm welcome at the flag-in ceremony on Saturday. ITBP DG Rahul Rasgotra described it as a significant step towards the force's glorious tradition and women's empowerment.

A flag-in ceremony was held at the Force Headquarters on Saturday (September 27). Home Secretary of the Government of India, Govind Mohan, was the chief guest. He presented cash awards to the climbers and praised their courage and determination. The occasion celebrated the spirit of the ITBP.

Successful Ascent of Mount Nun

ITBP Director General Rahul Rasgotra described this as a significant step in the Force's proud tradition and towards women's empowerment. In his address, he informed that a determined team of 14 female climbers, led by Assistant Commander Bhaneeta, successfully summited the 7,135-meter-high Mount Nun in Ladakh on August 14.

Next Target: Everest

After Mount Nun, the next goal of the women warriors is to conquer Everest. The women warriors of the ITBP's 'All Women Team' will climb the world's highest peak next year. After which the flag of snow warriors will fly on Everest. From 7,135 meters to 8,848 meters, there will be a new challenge for the ITBP 'All Women Team'.
