The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a Muslim organization, has voiced apprehensions about the government's "active participation" in events related to the upcoming consecration of the Ram Temple. During its national working committee meeting in New Delhi, the organization, led by Mahmood Madani, expressed concerns about potential biases and called on the government to uphold fair policies.

Judiciary Confidence Eroded, Places of Worship Act in Focus

Amidst discussions on key issues such as waqf property protection, the enforcement of the Places of Worship Act 1991, and the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Jamiat highlighted its concerns over the Supreme Court's Ayodhya judgment. The organization stated that despite the court's assurance regarding the strict enforcement of the Places of Worship Act 1991, petitions related to other mosques are still being entertained in various courts, leading to a decline in citizens' confidence in the fairness of the judiciary.

The Jamiat emphasized these points during its meeting, urging the government and law enforcement agencies to pay attention to the potential breach of peace and attempts to intimidate the minority community in the lead-up to the Ram Temple events. It also criticized what it perceives as the government's active participation, cautioning against undue influence in upcoming elections.

In his address, Mahmood Madani underscored the protection of mosques as a crucial objective for the Jamiat, calling for strategic planning amid controversies surrounding places of worship. The meeting concluded with resolutions on various issues, including the revival of the Waqf Department in the Jamiat office and the organization's stance on the recently enacted law on mob lynching.

Regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Jamiat urged the government to use its influence to halt what it referred to as "Israeli cruelty and brutality" and ensure the implementation of United Nations resolutions for a free and independent Palestinian state.

The meeting also touched on concerns about violence in Manipur, attributing it to government failure, and clarified that while office bearers may personally support secular political parties, the organization as a whole does not endorse any specific political party in elections.

The national working committee meeting, attended by prominent figures including Mahmood Madani and General Secretary Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, concluded with a commitment to further address and study relevant issues facing the community.
