The state government has banned more than 100 accounts for trying to disrupt peace through social media in Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K News: The Jammu and Kashmir government has banned more than 100 such social media handles, which were trying to disrupt peace in Doda and Kishtwar districts. The special thing is that some of these are also from Pakistan. This clearly shows that the terrorists sitting in Pakistan are giving up their nefarious activities there and are trying to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir through social media.

Some of these accounts were being operated from Pakistan.

According to the information, these social media accounts were trying to incite the youth regarding the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik. So that the atmosphere can be spoiled by spreading unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Omar government took action and blocked these social media accounts.

Attempt to disturb peace through social media

Officials said that many terrorist groups based in Pakistan are once again trying to disturb peace in the valley through social media. To deal with this threat, the government has banned more than 100 accounts that allegedly spread inflammatory content in Doda and Kishtwar districts.

More than 100 social media handles blocked

According to officials, many of the more than 100 banned social media handles were being operated from across the border (Pakistan). These handles were allegedly trying to incite local youth after the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik. Their aim was to spread unrest in the valley, but the administration took immediate action and blocked these accounts before the situation worsened.

Why was AAP MLA Mehraj Malik arrested

Aam Aadmi Party's Jammu and Kashmir unit president and MLA Mehraj Malik has been arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Doda. He is accused of misbehaving with the Deputy Commissioner of Doda and being associated with Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Apart from this, he is also accused of inciting youth for 'Lashkar'. Mehraj was detained on 8 September on charges of disturbing peace in Doda district. After his arrest, violent protests took place in many parts of the area.

Government action to maintain peace

According to officials, most of the accounts blocked were from Facebook, followed by Instagram and then X. The government said that the ban was implemented immediately to prevent violence and ensure peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this action was necessary to maintain law and order in the sensitive area.
