Let us tell you that after the terrorist incidents in the year 1990, a large number of Kashmiri Pandits left their homes and migrated from the valley. Since then, many elections have been held in which the return of Kashmiri Pandits was assured, but till now it has not been possible, by any political party.

We will do restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir
The Congress MP reiterated his resolve to work for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying, "It has never happened before in the history of India that we have taken away the status of a state and made that state a union territory."Though Congress leader also said, this should never have happened and I guarantee you that if the BJP does not restore the statehood. We- the 'India' alliance, will use all our strength in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and even take to the streets to restore the statehood of Valley.

However Congress MP further said statehood was taken away from J&K to benefit 'outsiders' through the Lieutenant Governor. He as long as the Lieutenant Governor is there, outsiders will benefit and local people will continue to be ignored. This is the reason why statehood was taken away from Jammu and Kashmir. They want outsiders to run Jammu and Kashmir and not local people." He told the gathering that restoration of statehood is "your right and your future" and Jammu and Kashmir cannot progress without it.
