Khesari Lal Yadev’s wife:  The Chhapra constituency in the Bhojpuri belt is poised to be an interesting contest in the Bihar Assembly elections. The RJD has given the ticket to Chanda Devi, wife of actor-singer Khesari Lal Yadav, a prominent figure in the Bhojpuri film industry. Khesari Lal Yadav met Tejashwi Yadav just a few days ago. Meanwhile, the BJP has given the ticket to Chhoti Kumari, a local leader.

Khesari Lal Yadav hails from Chhapra. Therefore, this time his cinematic popularity will be put to the political test.

BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari is the Zila Parishad Chairperson of the Chhapra constituency in Saran district, Bihar. The BJP has given this ticket to Chhoti Kumari by cutting the ticket of the current MLA, CN Gupta. Thus, this seat is contested between star-studded Chanda Devi and grassroots activist Chhoti Kumari.

Khesari's Bhojpuri popularity will be put to a political test!

Khesari Lal Yadav had stated that he wanted to do something for Bihar. He added that he was having difficulty persuading his wife to contest the election, as she is a family woman and mother of two children. She has not spared a single penny in raising them. Therefore, he feared that she might face time constraints if she entered politics. Khesari said he had been trying to persuade her for four days, but now she has agreed to contest.

Finally, RJD has given the ticket to Chanda Devi. Khesari lives in Mumbai and focuses on acting and singing, and his wife also lives there.

His wife will  face a BJP candidate from Chhapra

The BJP has fielded Chhoti Kumari against Chanda Devi. The party has fielded sitting MLA C.N. Gupta's ticket has been cancelled.

This move is believed to be due to anti-incumbency in the area. Chhoti Kumari is part of the party's strategy to field a female candidate who has been an active political activist at the local level.

Story of the Chhapra Seat

The Chhapra assembly seat has been a traditional BJP seat. CN Gupta has been winning this seat for two terms. The Yadav, Rajput, Brahmin, Baniya, and Muslim voters in the Chhapra constituency have been decisive.

CN Gupta received 75,710 votes in the 2020 assembly elections. Randhir Singh, who came in second, received 68,939 votes. This means CN Gupta's victory margin was not large.

CN Gupta received 71,646 votes in the 2015 elections. RJD's Randhir Singh received 60,267 votes in this election.

Summary

This time, Randhir Singh has joined the JDU, a RJD ally, and is contesting the adjacent Manjhi constituency on a JDU ticket. This has made the contest here interesting.
