Lakhs of tourists visit Himachal for Christmas and New Year reviving the state after disastrous floods
The country is celebrating the holidays, with Santa knocking on the door today, as Christmas is here. Christmas is a festival that brings celebration, gifts, food, decorations, and dancing. Lakhs of people have taken the opportunity to celebrate the holidays in the mountains in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
As every year, this year as well, Himachal Pradesh was waiting to welcome tourists for the holidays, and that day has come. Lakhs of tourists have taken to the road to reach their destination at various tourist spots in Himachal.
Himachal Pradesh has the gift of natural beauty as it is situated in the gigantic Himalayan range. Thus, it has huge mountains covered with trees such as pine and snow, with various rivers running in between mountains. The scenic beauty of Himachal is what attracts people from all around the country to spend their holidays in the state.
Why Himachal for Christmas
Himachal Pradesh's Shimla is a well-known city for its churches and Christmas celebrations. Other places such as Manali and Kullu are also famous for celebrating the holidays with fresh snowfall.
The state has a large capacity to serve tourists, with hotels and restaurants everywhere. Hotels and restaurants are almost filled with bookings for Christmas as lakhs of people are visiting the state. The Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has welcomed the tourists in the state by saying, "We welcome the tourists who have come to the state in such a huge number, crossing over lakhs."
The people of Himachal Pradesh faced major damages in the monsoon season as the state saw a disastrous flood with landslides taking down many buildings. The state was grappling with many challenges and was waiting for the day when it would receive tourists in large numbers, reviving the state's economy.
The district management of Kullu has been making efforts for a smooth Christmas celebration in the city. The Kullu district police state, "Strict vigilance is being maintained through CCTV cameras and drones. Kullu Police are committed to maintaining proper law and order within the district. Kullu Police are working day and night to ensure that the trip of tourists is safe, especially in view of slippery road conditions during the evening due to snow and black ice."
