India Meteorological Department's Insight

As of 1:30 pm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a release, noting the impact of two consecutive western disturbances likely to affect northwest India over the next five days. This atmospheric pattern contributes to the ongoing light rainfall in different parts of Delhi.

Thunderstorm and Rain Predictions

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi anticipates a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain over specific areas in Delhi, including Mundaka, Punjabi Bagh, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, IGI Airport, Ayanagar, Deramandi, as well as NCR (Gurugram) Jhajjar, Farukhnagar (Haryana).

RWFC Forecast for Delhi and NCR

According to RWFC, light to moderate intensity rain is expected in various locations in Delhi, such as Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Rohini, Badili, Karawal Nagar, Seemapuri, Rajeev Chowk, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, and NCR locations like Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Faridabad. Additionally, areas in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are included in the rain forecast for the next two hours on Wednesday.

Snowfall Across Northern Regions

While Delhi experiences rainfall, parts of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand witness light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread snowfall. This snowy weather is expected to continue over the next five days due to the influence of western disturbances, as per IMD.

IMD's Earlier Forecast and Absence of Cold Wave Conditions

IMD had earlier indicated the likelihood of light or moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Delhi, along with isolated to scattered rainfall over Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan during January 31 and February 1. The release concludes by assuring that no cold wave conditions are expected across the country in the next five days.
