Astrologer-Priest Arrested for Impersonating Gujarat CMO Official and Threatening GST Officer
Lavkush Dwivedi, a 28-year-old astrologer-priest originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing near Ahmedabad, has been apprehended by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch.
He was arrested for posing as a senior bureaucrat linked to the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office (CMO) and allegedly issuing threats to Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials.
Dwivedi's arrest followed a complaint filed by a GST official, who was conducting an inspection of a company in Mehsana district's Unjha town. Dwivedi, impersonating a senior CMO officer, contacted the GST official by phone during the inspection and demanded that the probe against a particular company be stopped.
The arrest revealed that the company under scrutiny was owned by Dwivedi's uncle. He had assumed the guise of a CMO official in the hope that the GST investigation into the firm would cease.
Apart from his astrologer-priest profession, Dwivedi also offers private security services to VIPs, leveraging his political connections on occasion.
