National Herald Case: The Rouse Avenue Court has issued notice to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda and other Congress leaders accused in the National Herald case. This notice has been issued to know the stand on the ED (Enforcement Directorate) chargesheet. According to the chargesheet, all of them are accused. They are not accused in the court proceedings. After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of Rahul, Sonia and others, the Rouse Avenue Court will take a decision on issuing summons.

This notice has been issued by the Rouse Avenue Court to know the stand on the ED chargesheet.

Next hearing will be on May 8.

the ED, which recently filed a chargesheet, started its investigation in 2021, when cognizance was taken on a private complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on June 26, 2014.

What does the ED have to say about the complaint?

The ED says that the complaint has exposed a criminal conspiracy by many big political figures. It includes Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, late Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandes, besides other leaders and a private company.

They are accused of being involved in money laundering by illegally acquiring property worth more than Rs 2 thousand crore belonging to Associated Journals Limited. Sonia and Rahul are shareholders of this private company. Both have 38-38 percent shares.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Pratyush Kant had alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi used a historical institution like National Herald associated with the freedom movement for personal gain.
