NIDJAM 2024: In a remarkable achievement, athlete Venkata Sri Sharanya Saranu, hailing from Panvel, Maharashtra, secured a silver medal in the u-14 Triathlon B Games at NIDJAM 2024. Sharanya dedicatedly prepared for this event since 2019 and earned the well-deserved silver with his unwavering commitment.

Trained at the Srisyakul Academy in Panvel, Sharanya had already claimed silver and bronze medals in CBSE Nationals before 2024, setting his sights on a gold medal in the upcoming u-16 category.

Five Years of Dedication

After five years of relentless effort, Sharanya expressed his happiness at winning the silver but remained determined to strive for the gold. With aspirations for the Olympics in India in 2036, Sharanya is part of the larger wave of preparations for the event in Gujarat, where NIDJAM is playing a crucial role. The event has seen success in the past, and the prospects for the sports sector in the future seem promising if more events like NIDJAM are organized.

Positive Impact on Sports Awareness

Interactions with players and coaches during NIDJAM 2024 revealed a shared enthusiasm for the event. Participants and coaches believe that such sporting events contribute significantly to raising awareness about sports. Renowned athlete Sarita Gaekwad, present at the medal ceremony on February 17, emphasized the positive influence of initiatives like Khel Mahakumbh, which started during PM Modi's tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Gaekwad highlighted the increasing sports awareness evident in the record-breaking registrations for Khelmahakumbh this year.

Pride in Young Athletes

The event, hosting over 5500 athletes from 616 districts across 31 states and Union Territories, showcased the active participation of small players. Despite the prevalent trend of young children engaging in digital games, these athletes shine in various fields, bringing pride to the nation and their families. The collective feeling of pride is palpable among citizens witnessing the dedication and accomplishments of these young talents.

Closing Ceremony Today

NIDJAM 2024, launched by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Sports Minister Harsh Sanghvi on February 16, is set to conclude today, February 18. The final round will be followed by a medal ceremony and a closing ceremony, marking the culmination of this vibrant and impactful sports event.
