Bihar Chief Minister and prominent member of the opposition bloc Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Nitish Kumar, disapproved of the 'boycott' of journalists by the INDIA bloc. He expressed his lack of awareness regarding the ban on 14 journalists and emphasized his support for press freedom. Nitish Kumar stated, 'I have no idea about this...I am in support of journalists. When everyone gets full freedom, journalists will write what they like. Are they controlled? Have I ever done it? They have rights, I am not against anyone.'

He further asserted, 'If journalists have full freedom, they will write what they like. Everyone has their rights.' These comments from Nitish Kumar have fueled the speculation of a rift within the opposition alliance, aligning with the BJP's narrative.

The INDIA bloc recently released a list of 14 news anchors whose debate shows will not be attended by INDIA representatives, sparking controversy. The BJP criticized this move, likening it to the Emergency mindset of the Congress attempting to silence the media. Congress leader Pawan Khera defended the decision as 'non-cooperation' rather than a 'ban, boycott, or blacklist,' explaining that INDIA parties had decided not to participate in the television shows hosted by these anchors. Khera added that if these journalists change their approach in the future, Indian parties may reconsider their stance.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla pointed out Nitish Kumar's public stance against the 'boycott' and claimed that this move has embarrassed the Congress. He also highlighted opposition within the INDIA alliance itself, with the Samajwadi Party violating the fatwa issued by the Congress almost immediately.

The list of 14 journalists affected by this controversy includes Aditi Tyagi, Aman Chopra, Amish Devgan, Anand Narasimhan, Arnab Goswami, Ashok Shrivastav, Chitra Tripathi, Gaurav Sawant, Navika Kumar, Prachi Parashar, Rubika Liaquat, Shiv Aroor, and Sudhir Chaudhary."
