The Nobel Prize was announced in Oslo, the capital of Norway. This time, there were 338 candidates for the prize. The US President's name was the most discussed among them. He himself had repeatedly expressed his desire for the Nobel Prize. Recently, he said that he should receive the award because he had stopped seven wars, including the one between India and Pakistan. However, this dream of US President Donald Trump has now been shattered. Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the Peace Prize in his place. Machado was awarded this prize for promoting democratic rights in Venezuela.

US President Donald Trump, who had claimed the prize by claiming to have stopped several wars, has dropped out of the race, despite being nominated by eight countries.

The committee noted that last year, Machado had to go into hiding to protect herself, but despite this, she chose to remain in her country.

Maria Corina Machado was born on October 7, 1967, in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. She studied industrial engineering at Andrés Bello Catholic University and graduated in finance from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración.

Trump was nominated by eight countries.

Eight countries nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize. These include the United States, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Malta, and Cambodia, in addition to Pakistan and Israel. The nomination process for the Nobel Prize begins on February 1st each year. Only nominations received by that date are valid. The deadline for nominations for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was January 31, 2025.

Nihon Hidankyo received the prize last year.

Last year, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Nihon Hidankyo of Japan. Nihon Hidankyo was founded in 1956 by people affected by the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Despite physical suffering and painful memories, they chose to use their experiences to generate hope and connection for peace.
