Number of people injured in explosion at the port in southern Iran rose to 516

Explosion in Iran:  Major explosion has been place at Shahid Rajaee port on Saturday (April 26, 2025) in Bandar Abbas city located in the south-western part of Iran. According to Iran's state media, 516 people are reported to be injured in this blast so far.

After the blast at the port, there was screaming from all sides. At the same time, after the massive explosion, all activities of the port have been immediately stopped to extinguish the fire.

According to the report of Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency, a large number of people work at this port, so a large number of employees are likely to be injured and killed in this blast.

Officials gave information about the accident

Regarding the blast at the port, Mehrdad Hasanzadeh, head of the local disaster management authority, told Iran's state media, "The reason behind this terrible accident was the explosion in the containers kept at Shahid Rajai port. At present, we are evacuating all the injured from the spot and sending them to medical centers for treatment.'

Relief and rescue operations are going on at the spot

At the same time, Mukhtar Salahshour, head of the Hormozgan Red Crescent Society, told state TV media, "Four rapid response teams have been sent to the spot after the massive explosion at the port."

Blast affected several kilometers away

While the blast at the port was so powerful that the glass of the windows of buildings was shattered several kilometers away. At the same time, after this blast, many videos are going viral on social media platforms, in which a cloud of smoke can be seen rising in the sky after this explosion.

It is noteworthy that Shahid Rajai port is about 1,000 kilometers south of Iran's capital Tehran and 23 kilometers from Bandar Abbas city. Located in the west, it is Iran's most advanced container port. One-fifth of the world's oil production passes through this port.

Port was attacked by cyber-attack in 2020

In 2020, Iran's most advanced container port Shahid Rajai became the victim of a cyber-attack. This cyber-attack caused huge chaos in the surrounding areas. At the same time, the Washington Post reported in its report that Israel was allegedly behind this attack, which was done in response to a previous cyber-attack by Iran.
