President Murmu inaugurates three new trains in Odisha increasing connectivity
In an exciting development for Odisha, President Droupadi Murmu officially launched three new trains today in Badampahar. The event, attended by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and other officials, marks a significant step forward for the state's rail connectivity.
New Train Connections
President Murmu flagged off three trains:
- Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express
- Badampahar-Rourkela Weekly Express
- Tatanagar-Badampahar MEMU train
Foundation Stone for Badampahar Railway Station Redevelopment
President Murmu will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Badampahar Railway Station. This station, located in the Chakradharpur Division, is set to undergo a makeover under the Amrit Station Scheme, with a budget of 12.22 crores.
Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express Details
The Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express will operate every Saturday, departing from Shalimar at 23:05 hrs and reaching Badampahar at 05:40 hrs the next day. The return journey will see the Badampahar-Shalimar Weekly Express departing every Sunday at 21:30 hrs, reaching Shalimar at 05:00 hrs the next day.
Improved Connectivity and Benefits
This new train service aims to enhance connectivity between Shalimar/Kolkata and Badampahar, offering the first overnight Express Train Service from the Badampahar/Rairangpur area. The route will pass through mineral-rich areas of Odisha and industrial zones of Jharkhand, connecting people more efficiently with the State of West Bengal.
Boost for Education, Healthcare, and Tourism
Residents in the area can now easily access educational institutions and job opportunities in Kolkata and Howrah. Additionally, patients can seek medical consultation and treatment from renowned hospitals in Kolkata and Tatanagar. The improved connectivity is expected to boost the growth and development of the Mayurbhanj District.
Badampahar Railway Station Redevelopment Highlights
The redevelopment project includes:
- Iconic contemporary-style station building
- Green patches in circulating areas
- Canopy in front of the station
- Parking facilities
- Road network redevelopment
- Extension and resurfacing of the platform
- Divyang-friendly facilities and signages
- Replacement of quarters
For passenger convenience, there will also be a three-meter wide foot-over bridge. The redevelopment of Badampahar Railway Station aims to enhance rail transport infrastructure and promote tourism in the state of Odisha. The revamped station is expected to play a crucial role in the growth and development of the Mayurbhanj District.
