Delhi government is soon going to start a comprehensive survey to identify ineligible beneficiaries in the old age pension scheme.

The Delhi government is soon going to conduct a survey to check the eligibility of the beneficiaries of the old age pension scheme. The government was receiving complaints of ineligible people taking advantage of the scheme, due to which this decision has been taken. The government said that earlier a survey of another scheme was conducted in which more than 25 thousand ineligible beneficiaries were found.

It was also said that the Aam Aadmi Party government had approved more than 80 thousand old age pensions before the elections.

Who is taking old age pension in Delhi?

This survey will be conducted by the Social Welfare Department by going door to door, in which the documents and eligibility of the beneficiaries will be confirmed. Officials say that its purpose is to ensure that only the genuinely eligible elderly get the benefit of the pension.

Government had conducted a survey earlier as well

It is worth noting that in a recent survey conducted by the Women and Child Development Department on the beneficiaries of the Distressed Women Scheme, more than 25,000 ineligible beneficiaries were found, who were taking financial assistance of Rs 2500 every month. After this, the government has decided to take strict action in the old age pension scheme as well.

The government believes that during the survey, ineligible people can be removed from this scheme, as well as eligible people will be added to the scheme.

State government took action after receiving the complaint

The previous Kejriwal government in Delhi had approved 80,000 new old age pensions just before the assembly elections, due to which the total number of beneficiaries increased to about 5.3 lakh. Earlier, about four and a half lakh people were receiving pension under this scheme.

Survey orders to ascertain number of beneficiaries

Now the government wants to ensure that the pension money reaches only those people who are actually entitled to it. After receiving the complaint, the government has made a plan. The government's intention is that only the beneficiaries should get its benefit. No one else or those who are non-beneficiaries can take wrong advantage of this scheme.

Summary

This decision has been taken after recent complaints. In the survey, the documents of the beneficiaries will be checked and eligibility will be confirmed
