Pak High Commission official declared persona non grata, orders to leave India in 24 hours

India has declared an officer working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as persona non grata and has asked him to leave the country within 24 hours. India has taken this action because of the Pakistani officer's involvement in suspicious activities other than his jurisdiction. India today issued a demarche (a diplomatic move against another country) in this regard to the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission and asked him to send the above-mentioned official out of the country within 24 hours.

However, the government did not provide any information about the identity of the Pakistani official and the kind of suspicious activities he was involved in. While Ministry of External Affairs said, "The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as persona non grata for his involvement in activities not in keeping with his official status in India.

The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. A demarche to this effect was issued today to the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission."

This move has been taken amid growing tension between India and Pakistan after New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor to destroy nine terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. In this operation, India destroyed 9 terrorist bases belonging to Jaish, Lashkar and Hizbul in airstrikes, in which at least 100 terrorists were killed.
