India has declared an officer working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as persona non grata and has asked him to leave the country within 24 hours. However, the government did not provide any information about the identity of the Pakistani official and the kind of suspicious activities he was involved in. While Ministry of External Affairs said, "The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as persona non grata for his involvement in activities not in keeping with his official status in India.

The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. A demarche to this effect was issued today to the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission."

This move has been taken amid growing tension between India and Pakistan after New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor to destroy nine terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. In this operation, India destroyed 9 terrorist bases belonging to Jaish, Lashkar and Hizbul in airstrikes, in which at least 100 terrorists were killed.

Let us tell you that on April 22, 26 innocent tourists were shot dead by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

On April 23, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack, India took several tough diplomatic steps against Pakistan, which included reducing the number of officials in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi from 55 to 30. Apart from this, India also expelled all Pakistani defense advisors and asked them to leave the country within a week. Along with this, India had recalled India's defense advisors from its High Commission in Islamabad and reduced the number of its diplomats.
