Singing Vande Mataram is against the decorum of the House - MP Sukhdev Bhagat

Congress MP Sukhdev Bhagat has expressed strong objection to the discussion in Parliament on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. He said, “Today the Prime Minister will discuss this, but the Rajya Sabha Secretariat's Bulletin Part-2, serial number 65855, and the Rajya Sabha Members' Handbook clearly state that singing Vande Mataram inside Parliament is against the decorum of the House. Doesn't this seem like a major contradiction?” Sukhdev Bhagat further added, “Discussion is fine... but our Prime Minister is seen walking around when the national anthem is played. There is nothing to fear about Vande Mataram, it is our pride, but the way its words are being used, it has been given a political color. This is not right.” He appealed that “instead of making accusations and counter-accusations in Parliament today, our story, our bravery should be discussed.” This statement by the Congress MP has further increased the apprehension of a heated exchange between the ruling party and the opposition during the special discussion scheduled for tomorrow.
