Today Morning, G20 summit Begin with Prime Minister Modi welcoming all guests and inclusion of African Union as G20 permanent member. After a series of extended negotiations, the G20 member states have successfully reached a consensus and adopted leaders' declaration during the New Delhi G20 Summit, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The adoption of this declaration had faced delays primarily due to discussions related to the Ukraine crisis.

In a brief televised statement delivered during the summit's second session, Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, saying, “Friends, we have just got good news. With the hard work of our teams, and with the cooperation of you all, there is consensus on the New Delhi Leaders Declaration".

Following the proposal to adopt the leaders' declaration, Modi made the official announcement, stating, "I announce that this declaration is adopted." He punctuated this momentous announcement by striking the gavel thrice and firmly tapping the desk, a gesture met with resounding applause from fellow G20 leaders.

Adoption of Declaration

Modi took the opportunity to express his gratitude, acknowledging the dedication and efforts of the ministers, Sherpas, and all officials who played crucial roles in achieving this consensus. He praised their tireless work, stating, "On this occasion, I convey my heartfelt thanks to ministers, Sherpas and all officials who worked hard to make this possible and they are worthy of being praised."

As of the initial reports, specific details on how the G20 member states arrived at a consensus on the leaders' declaration, particularly concerning the contentious paragraph related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, were not immediately available. Notably, this issue had caused delays in the formulation of joint statements during all ministerial meetings held during India's presidency of the G20.
