PM Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude and congratulations to the 140 crore citizens of India following the historic passage of the women's reservation bill, titled 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam,' in Parliament.

In a statement on his WhatsApp channel, PM Modi described it as a "defining moment in our nation's democratic journey" and extended his congratulations to the entire population.

He expressed his gratitude to all the Rajya Sabha MPs who voted in support of the bill, highlighting the unanimous backing it received. PM Modi stated, "I thank all the Rajya Sabha MPs who voted for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. Such unanimous support is indeed gladdening."

PM Modi emphasized that this bill is a "tribute to countless women" and marks the beginning of an era of stronger representation and empowerment for women in India. He acknowledged the contributions and resilience of women throughout the nation's history.

He noted that the bill is not just legislation but also a tribute to the women who have enriched India with their unwavering spirit. It signifies a commitment to ensuring that women's voices are heard more effectively.

The women's reservation bill, which aims to reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women, received unanimous support in the Rajya Sabha, with all 214 lawmakers present voting in favor. However, it still requires approval from a majority of state assemblies and will be implemented following a delimitation exercise that will redraw parliamentary and assembly constituencies based on a forthcoming census.

The bill, officially titled the 128th Constitution Amendment Bill or the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, represents a significant step toward gender equality and increased female representation in India's political landscape.
