In a statement, Prime
Minister Modi praised his trip to the United States as a “reflection of
the vigour and vitality of the US-India partnership.

Tuesday, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi released an official statement detailing his trip to the United
States of America.

“I am heading to
the United States on an Official Visit at an invitation of President Joseph
Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden,” the prime minister stated, noting
that the invitation reflects the “vigour and vitality of the
partnership between our countries.”

He said he was going to
start his visit in New York on June 21 at the United Nations Headquarters in
celebration of International Day of Yoga. He noted that the ceremonies will
take place at the location that supported India’s December 2014 International
Day of Yoga initiative.

The PM will next attend
the State Banquet in Washington DC with President Biden, first lady Dr. Jill
Biden, and other dignitaries. “During the course of my trip, I will be
addressing a Joint Session of the US Congress an invitation of Congressional
leadership,” the PM said.

He stated that
India-United States relations are multifaceted and that engagements across
sectors are strengthening. “The United States is India’s largest products
and services trading partner. In the disciplines of science & technology,
education, health, defence, and security, we cooperate closely,” he wrote.

Emphasising the shared
vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific, Modi stated that this
teamwork will strengthen “cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums
such as the G20, Quad, and IPEF.”

In addition, he
conveyed his desire to meet the “vibrant Indian-American community that
reflects the best of our societies.”

He wrote, “I am
confident that the visit to the United States will strengthen our ties based on
our shared values of democracy, diversity, and freedom.” Further stating
that the two nations are “stronger in meeting shared global
challenges”

The Prime Minister will
then travel from Washington, D.C. to Cairo, where he will meet President Abdel
Fattah El-Sisi on his initial trip to Egypt.

He stated that his
visit represents the “rapidly evolving partnership with Egypt, which was
elevated to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during the visit of President Sisi.”

Since assuming power in
2014, this will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fourth significant address to
the Indian-American community. Modi will be among the very few leaders to
deliver multiple addresses to a joint session of the United States Congress.
