PM Modi delights in successful talks with Qatar Counterpart
PM Modi, who arrived in Doha on Wednesday night after concluding his visit to the UAE, engaged in talks with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The visit aims to bolster ties between India and Qatar, marking a significant diplomatic move.

In a post on X, PM Modi expressed satisfaction with the discussions, stating, ""Had a wonderful meeting with PM @MBA_AlThani_. Our discussions revolved around ways to boost India-Qatar friendship."
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the leaders' exchange of views on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, finance, and technology.
Regional Developments and Emphasis on Peace
The leaders also addressed recent regional developments in West Asia, emphasizing the crucial need to uphold peace and stability in the region. The Qatar Foreign Ministry released a statement indicating the focus on enhancing cooperation in energy, commerce, and investment.
Dinner Hosted in PM Modi's Honor
Prime Minister Modi attended a dinner hosted by his Qatari counterpart as a gesture of goodwill. The MEA spokesperson, Randir Jaiswal, shared on X, "Furthering India-Qatar partnership! PM @narendramodi held a fruitful meeting with HH @MBA_AlThani_, PM & FM of Qatar in Doha. Discussions covered expanding bilateral cooperation in sectors such as trade & investment, energy, finance among others."
Warm Welcome by Indian Diaspora
Upon his arrival, PM Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora outside his hotel in Qatar. Enthusiastic individuals, carrying the Indian Tricolour and gifts for PM Modi, chanted slogans of "Modi Modi" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai." The Prime Minister interacted with the crowd, shaking hands, and even receiving gifts like books.
Diplomatic Triumph and Release of Indian Navy Veterans
Notably, this visit follows a major diplomatic triumph for India, where eight veterans of the Indian Navy sentenced to death on espionage charges in Qatar were released on Monday. Seven have already returned to India, and efforts are underway for the eighth personnel's return, as confirmed by the MEA. The commutation of capital punishment to an extended prison term resulted from diplomatic interventions by New Delhi, further strengthening bilateral relations.
PM Modi's visit to Qatar underscores the commitment to fostering ties and addressing regional concerns for mutual benefit. The warm reception and successful discussions mark a positive turn in India-Qatar relations.
