In his monthly "Mann Ki Baat" speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to celebrate their weddings in India, expressing concern over the trend of some "big families" getting married overseas.

The season for weddings has also begun. According to some trade associations, this wedding season may bring in about Rs. 5 lakh crore in revenue. The prime minister advised all Indian citizens to prioritize buying wedding-related merchandise made entirely in India.

According to Modi, the nation's wealth will stay in India as long as people celebrate marriage ceremonies there. The prime minister emphasized the importance of speaking up for locals and stated that if weddings are planned in India, systems that support them will grow.

PM Modi urged citizens to use UPI

The prime minister pushed citizens to use UPI and digital payments more frequently. The amount of UPI payments has increased recently, so he requested citizens to limit their payments to UPI for the next month and witness the experience.

He stated that people's reliance on cash payments for Diwali has decreased for the second year in a row. He went on to say that this shows that people are increasingly relying on digital payments.

Festive season brought upsurge in UPI Payments

October saw 11 billion UPI transactions in India, valued at Rs. 17.16 lakh crore, according to a statement from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). October's Rs.17.16 lakh crore transaction was brought on by the festival season. According to the NPCI, the volume of transactions reached a record 11.41 billion, an increase of 8% from the 10.56 billion in September.
