Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan .today. A three-day Marathi Sahitya Sammelan will be organized in Delhi to explore its role in contemporary discourse after 71 years. A press release issued from the PMO said that the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan being organized in the national capital after 71 years will celebrate the timeless relevance of Marathi literature and explore its role in contemporary discourse.

A three-day Marathi Sahitya Sammelan will be organized in Delhi to explore its role in contemporary discourse.

In this conference, the Prime Minister will address the gathering and inaugurate the Sahitya Sammelan at around 4:30 pm at Vigyan Bhavan. This is happening when the government has given Marathi the status of classical language. The event, to be held from 21 to 23 February, will celebrate the rich culture and heritage of India.

The conference will be held from February 21 to 23. It will host a diverse series of panel discussions, book exhibitions, cultural performances and interactive sessions with eminent litterateurs

The conference will celebrate the timeless relevance of Marathi literature and explore its role in contemporary discourse, covering topics such as language preservation, translation and the impact of digitisation on literary works.

The event will also include a symbolic literary train journey from Pune to Delhi, carrying 1,200 participants, to showcase the unifying spirit of literature. The release said, “The Marathi Sahitya Samagam, being held after 71 years in the national capital, will also include a symbolic literary train journey from Pune to Delhi, carrying 1,200 participants, to showcase the unifying spirit of literature.

Timeless relevance of Marathi literature

The conference will feature over 2,600 poetry presentations, 50 book releases and 100 book stalls etc. Eminent scholars, writers, poets and literature lovers from across the country will participate in it.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi will attend a mega event of Jhumor Binandini programme being organised by the Assam government under the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' initiative.
